Newcastle Meet the Second

Alright, people, let's get this blog doing some work.

I propose that we have the next Newcastle meeting at 12pm (noon)on Sunday 28th February. This date is subject to change, however, if too many people say they can't make it for whatever reason, but it's best that we get this sorted earlier, rather than later.

We'll be meeting at the entrance of Central Station in Newcastle (The big train station, in other words). It's incredibly hard to miss, especially if you come by train, and for those who drive down, there's a college which you can park in for free on the Sunday that's about 10-15 minutes walk from the station (Although it is rather interesting to get to if you don't know Newcastle).

Just to recap:
Sunday 28th February 2010, 12pm.
At Central Station, Newcastle.

If this date doesn't work for you, or you don't know how to get there, then leave a comment, and I'll get back to you ASAP.
Same applies if you want more information on the meet itself.

That's all for now,

- Lorze the Brookes

  1. I would love to come but I might be busy on that day at my friends birthday party. :( :)
    It's good and bad.

I was just wondering about this:

    What is the age group?
Because I don't want to be the only 13-yr-old surrounded by 17-yr-olds.

    Are the people nice?

What did you do at the last meeting?

    Was the last meeting good?

    That's all, I think.

  2. I think that the ages from today's meeting ranged from 14 to 22, but everyone was totally friendly (and rather cold), and it was really more a case of knowing who was there for the FanBBS meet and who wasn't :)

This last meeting, we met up outside Central Station in Newcastle, went to a couple of manga shops nearby to talk utter nonsense at each other, walked through a few more shops, then we all went to Subway for our lunch. Doesn't really sound like much, lol, but we really did just stand around and talk for ages, and then I think Sabulana had to go, so we just sort of split up and did some shopping, but we did bump into each other in Eldon Square before we all went home, which was good.

As for how it went, I really enjoyed it :) After we worked out who was with us, it was just like hanging around with a bunch of friends who all like the same thing and are random as hell. And like chasing pigeons. :P

If you can make it, then that would be fantastic, but I obviously understand if you have something else on - there'll be other meetings (hopefully), so you won't be missing out on much :)

  3. Why do I have a feeling I'll be the only non-manga/anime person there, but honestly, I just want to meet people who write - I don't have any friends IRL who actually write any form of fiction or fanfiction.

    It sucks.

How did you all recognise each other? That's something I'm wondering for the next one. THough I suppose I'll just look for the group of screaming people who all seem to be of different ages at the next one- which I should be able to make.

    =]

  4. Heh, we didn't talk about manga all the time - my friend doesn't do manga at all and she said she had a good time. You should definitely come along - we had loads of fun at yesterday's meeting, and everyone was really friendly :)

I think the thing that helped us recognise each other at first was that we'd posted descriptions of what we were planning to wear on the day on the thread at FanBBS.net, before I made this blog. Although, if you start to get desperate, just start talking about fanfiction in a loud voice, and we'll zone in on you soon enough ;P

  5. Someone could bring a huge sign with 'FANFICTION!' or stick a piece of A3 onto a wall with 'FANFICTION!' written on it. It may be a bit easier than describing what your going to wear because you might change your mind. :)

  6. Seriously, I was just planning on screaming "FANBBS PEOPLE" in a really loud voice, and then smiling and waving at the people who give me funny looks *proud smile*

I probably could have seen you all yesterday, I was around eldon square at one point, walking through the town, I met my ex for a coffee and we walked back down that way afterwards, but I was slightly jumpy so I really couldnt concentrate on anything but the proximity of himself to me.

    Blah.

I'm fairly easy to recognise, and if need be I can link to a picture, so the already established meeting people who will recognise eachother can recognise me :)

  7. Hmm, I may have to see about making a giant "FANBBS MEETING HERE!" poster at some point :P (Although probably not that giant :D)

It might just be easier to hang around until you see the group of people talking about FanFiction, hopefully everyone from the first meeting will turn up to the second :) so it should be easy enough to spot us. Especially if you see a teenage girl chasing pigeons and being laughed at :P But in any case, if you give a short description, like hair or what coat you'll be wearing, then it'll help us to know when everyone's there :P

Like, for example, I'll most likely be the fat girl with long bushy brown hair, glasses, and a purple hoodie :P

  8. Haha, easy description, short brown hair, will be wearing a black jacket, some form of skinny jeans, and most likely a grey pashmina, bopping to music and smoking a cig.

    I also pace a lot.

We'll see what happens when the time comes and I figure out an outfit so you can all spot me and yell haha.

  9. What, and yell "haha" at you? Then who would be looking weird? :P

I could give descriptions of the people who came last time, but I'm not sure whether they want me to or not :) Dance with the Devil can put her own one up lol, and I know Sabulana knows about the blog :) I'll have to try and get the others on here as well :P

  10. Hmmm... My discription, Short brown hair, may look black, not to sure when I'm getting it dyed. Black jacket, maybe listening to an iPod, probably texting. I'll probably wear skinny jeans and a White Sox Baseball jersey. :) I'll tell you closer to the time what I'll wear if I can come.

  11. No I meant yell, haha.

The laugh wasn't what I was planning on shouting - *blush*

    Yesh, get more peoples!

  12. Awesome :D I'm looking forward to the next meeting already lol, looks like a few more people might turn up than did the other day :D

If we can hit double figures, that would be both fantastic, and epic win :D

  13. What time is it?
And I can come because my friend isn't having her party on that day. I'm also bringing a friend.

  14. Oops, did I forget to put the time up there? Argh, I'll edit the post so it's up there in a minute. The meeting should start at 12pm (noon), although we'll probably be hanging around the station to wait for stragglers for 10 to 15 minutes after that. Then the real epic fun times begin! :D

Oh, and the more the merrier :D

  15. There's already a meet planned on 20th Feb. It's a cosplay. If any of you have facebook, you should check out North East Cosplay Meets. If you don't, here are the details:

    Time: 11:00 - 14:00
Location: Newcastle, Stodart street, beside Chinese gate
Plan: going to Chinese supermarket and then to anime shops then Twist

I didn't plan it, but I'm sure that those who did would be happy to have more people. If you can't find us, then just look for those chatting and screaming. Although I'm fairly sure the cosplay outfits will give us away :)

  16. Argh, yeah, the Cosplay... God, I should have plugged that earlier. People probably won't be able to make it now... but I shall shamelessly plug it in a Blog in a minute anyway! Even though on the 20th I have an Open Day at Sunderland Uni. Bah.

Although, on the other hand, if I go to Sunderland, it'll be easy for me to get back for the meetings... :D

  17. I have no idea were Cosplay is. I can probably still come, by the way but my Dad wants to ask everbody "Are you a mad axe murderer?" before he'll leave me and my friend. -shakes head- Parents.

  18. I'm free to come, last time to find each other we just walked around asking people if they knew what fan fiction was.

  19. Last time we just stood there in a group, glanced around, then shouted "FANFICTION!" before legging it from the weird looks we got.

    Fun times :D
